David Sharp

Mr. Sharp founded Urban Advisors in 2005.  Since inception, Urban Advisors has underwritten an average of 25 deals and $50 million of financing per year to small-to-mid sized businesses, inner city real estate projects and loans/investments to community development focused financial intermediaries and organizations.

Prior to Urban Advisors, Mr. Sharp served as Wachovia’s Community Development Investment Finance Manager for 5 years. In this capacity, Mr. Sharp was responsible for the allocation of approximately $25 million per year in Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) qualifying transactions, which included debt, mezzanine and equity financings, as well as fixed income investments including bonds and bond funds that supported community development related financings. During his tenure, Mr. Sharp built a $100 million CRA qualifying investment portfolio consisting of private equity, real estate, fixed income, structured products, and loan funds. . In addition to his responsibilities as an investment manager, he also assisted in closing approximately $18 million in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) investments during his one-year tenure as Wachovia’s initial NMTC Manager before the hiring of a dedicated NMTC Manager. Prior to serving as Investment Finance Manager, Mr. Sharp held the role of Vice President, in which role he structured, underwrote, and managed highly leveraged debt transactions for private equity bank clients. In addition, Mr. Sharp served as a Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) financial analyst for Bank of America.

Mr. Sharp also served as an Intelligence Officer in The United States Navy

In addition to leading Urban Adivsors, Mr. Sharp provides financial counseling within the Charlotte, NC community in the form of workshops and financial literacy events.

Mr. Sharp earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Morehouse College.


Tawruss Sellars

Prior to joining Urban Advisors, Mr. Sellars was active in small business development projects and credit analysis. Most recently, Mr. Sellars served on the organizing staff of a community bank to be organized in Charlotte, NC, in which capacity he was active in the business plan creation, development of financial projections, meeting of regulatory needs, and capital raising, as well as infrastructure and technological implementation.

Before working with the de novo bank, Mr. Sellars provided analytical and support services for small businesses pursuing multi-family housing, manufacturing and media opportunities within the Southeast and Midwest. Mr. Sellars began his career in the Corporate & Investment Bank of Wachovia, participating in the structuring and underwriting of syndicated term loans and revolving credit facilities. In this capacity, Mr. Sellars performed financial analysis, due diligence, and industry research pertaining to companies in a variety of industries including media telecommunications, and manufacturing.

Michael Boulware

Michael Boulware serves as the Social Compliance Director for Urban Advisors. In this role, Mr. Boulware designs and develops social impact and logic models for Urban Advisors clients.

Mr. Boulware has a strong history of managing impact. Prior to joining Urban Advisors, Mr. Boulware served as a Qualified Professional (QP) Case Manager and Utilization Review committee member for one of the largest mental health case management providers in NC, and with such group he coordinated and evaluated the quality of comprehensive services provided to individuals. These services ranged from medical interventions and psychotherapy to social services and housing. Routinely, Mr. Boulware was tasked with developing and reviewing the effectiveness and validity of medical and social interventions. He routinely conducts applied psychology workshops on stress relief and emotional intelligence.

Mr. Boulware earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from North Carolina Central University.
